Step 1: You Start Running-there is no Step 2

For any How I Met Your Mother fans (if you're not one you should become one) you'll appreciate the title of this post.  Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) tells another character training to run the New York City Marathon there is no need to train-you just run.  As a bet he decides to run in his place without any training to prove he can, and actually does finish.  After bragging about his accomplishment though he gets on the subway and then can't get off because his legs don't work and rides it end to end.

I keep thinking about this episode because my sister laughed at me when I said I was going to train for a 5K, she said the same thing to me.  She's a runner, thinks it's nothing to run 5-6 miles a day.  I've found their line of thinking to be very, very far from the truth...

The 1/2 mile is getting easier, and my plan (not sure I'll go through with it) is to get in a 3rd run this week tomorrow morning before heading to Chapel Hill for the UNC game.  I also worked out with a real workout person yesterday and have been super sore today!
